london / vintage guide

When you think of shopping in London, you might think of Oxford Street or all those fancy and expensive vintage stores in Camden. With this blog post, I want to give you 3 alternatives for your next (vintage) shopping trip to London.

Traid is a charity store chain spread all over London. You can buy and donate women’s, men’s, and even children’s clothing. They sell both, second hand and vintage even though there are shops which offer only second-hand pieces. You can check on their website what is the case for the store you want to go.

I really enjoyed the Pimlico market, people were selling stuff on the ground or from their cars, which is a cool contrast to all those fancy and expensive high class vintage shops that are typical for London. Maybe, I’m exaggerating a bit, bit the shops in London and not the cheapest, to be honest. This market isn’t touristic at all, most of the people there are locals. Most of the things you’ll find there, are second hand, like H&M and Topshop pieces but you can also find some real vintage items here and there. As you can see on the pictures, you don’t only find garments, but also antiquities, books, and random stuff. Last but not least, it costs 1 pound (or 5 pounds for early birds) to get in, what I think pays of, because most of the goods there cost around 1 or 2 pounds.

Portobello Road Market is a well-known street market for tourists and locals in London. What I didn’t know is, that if you follow the road until the end there’s a big vintage fashion market where you can buy garments on a budget! Depending on the day, the focus is laid either on food, antiques, new fashion or vintage fashion, you can check that on their website.
